Atlee, at odds of more than 30 to one and the second favourite, Briganelli, formed the winning on-course double combination at Addington Raceway last evening. They paid $152 for sl. The AtleeOur Debbie concession combination paid $202.70 for sl.

Atlee, which had not been successful since the spring, responded gamely under a stern drive to win the Airways Stakes in a keen finish with the favourite, First Pick. Atlee was

first out, but soon surrendered the lead. He was sixth and fairly wide at the straight entrance, and finished well for S. D. Edge to win by half a length from First Pick, which had taken charge early in the run home.

Alandria, which had trouble working clear, was a useful third, just ahead of Ten Grand, Lucrative and Boy Logan. Briganelli improved a sound record with his win in the Harewood Stakes. He was one of the leading trio all the way and was not tested in the run home. He won by more than a length from Our Debbie, which showed her first glimpse of form for the season. Bonny Strathair battled on under pressure for a close third, a length in front of Halberg. Stormy Petrel tired to fifth, ahead of the favourite, Coventry, which made up ground after breaking in the middle stages.

Waratah gained an overdue first win for Mrs F. E. Newfield, of Templeton, and her father, Mr J. F. Harris, of Pleasant Point, in the Canterbury Park Stakes. A colt by Johnny Globe from a top mare. Queen Ngaio, Waratah is trained by F. E. Newfield. He was driven by K. A. Chapman. Waratah raced in the middle of the field for much of the race. cause any interference. Waratah then raced through the middle of the bunch and finished strongly to win by half a length from a most determined finisher, Keravat. Winslow Lady, after rushing up to join Maida Million in the lead at the three furlongs, tired to third a length away, a nose in front of Maida Million. Fratello was beaten off fifth, ahead of Light Globe. The win favourite, Greek March, was not a danger and finished eleventh. Outclassed

Betsy Morano, which was a good second at Washdyke on Saturday, outclassed her rivals in the Christchurch Stakes, which was marred by a mixup near the six furlongs. Betsy Morano could not keep up over the first furlong after starting from No. 1 at the barrier, but she improved sharply to take control with six furlongs left. Cardigan Lass, a good second to Arita at Washdyke last Saturday, gained a decisive win in the Lyttelton Handicap. A fine four-year-old by Light Brigade from Coronet Lass, she Is raced by Mr S. C. Graham, of Christchurch, and is trained at Templeton by J. A. Carmichael. Cardigan Lass went to the front near the mile post. Young Morris made a game effort to draw level on the home turn, but she held him off quite easily and won well by more than a length. Lucky Wood, which met trouble near the mile, finished better than Young Morris and beat him by a length for second, with a nose to Promite. Arita, which was another checked when Single Way broke near the mile, did well to finish fifth, well clear of Rapparee. Bad Smash

There was a bad smash In the first furlong of the January Stakes. Three of the nine runners were put out of the race—Diarac and Young Miss fell and Braeburn lost her driver, Command broke after about 50 yards and was pulled up. Our Smokey took the lead after seven furlongs and was followed by Late Frost and Ingleburn. Kathpete and Sonny Jim were the only others in the race.

Kathpete, driven by M. Holmes, waited in fourth place until the straight entrance then sprinted up to win going away, by a length. Our Smokey the outsider of the field, held on for second, a neck in front of Late Frost. Ingleburn was a length away fourth, five lengths in front of Sonny Jim. Third Win

Snowline gained her third win from her last four starts when she led almost from beginning to end in the Pioneer Stakes. Wipe Out fell after half a furlong. Leading Light ran into him and lost his driver, and Wipe Out galloped on and fell again before being caught. Snowline set a fairly easy pace in the middle stages and, when challenged in the straight, she fought gamely to win by half a length from Student, which finished boldly. Newport Maid, another strong finisher, was third, half a length behind Student and a nose in front of the tiring Kimberley Kid. Byebye Bill was beaten off, fifth, ahead of Curragh Dan, which did well to finish as closely as he did.
