CABINET TALKS
P.M. One Of Absentees (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and three other Ministers were absent from the first meeting of the Cabinet in 1968 in Wellington this morning. The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall), who presided, said Mr Holyoake was out of Wellington on private business and was expected back later this week. The Attorney-General (Mr Hanan) was in his electorate of Invercargill and the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) was in Australia to attend a reading conference. One Minister who will be away from the Cabinet foi some time yet is the Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) who is still recovering from injuries suffered in a motor accident last year.
