Kingfish B-1 Report
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 23. The coring operations in the Kingfish B-l well in the Gippsland shelf basin, announced on January 17, have been discontinued at 7611 feet. Drilling resumed to a depth of 8021 feet. Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd, made this announcement today after advice from Esso Standard Oil (Australia), Ltd, and Hematite Petroleum Pty, Ltd. The well will now be logged and wireline tests will be made to supplement the core data obtained in order to evaluate the potential oil producing characteristics of the reservoir prior to undertaking the next step in operations.
