Market Again Easier In Active Trading
The market continued to ease on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. The New Zealand list had twice as many falls as rises. Australian shares, however, were firm. Trading was moderately active over a fairly wide range.
Berlei gained 20c to 140 c, the largest , rise in the New Zealand list. New Zealand Petroleum was actively traded at fluctuating prices, but closed at a steady 188 c. B.H.P. recovered to gain 35c to 1675 c, and Mount Isa Mines rose 20c to 500 c. The falls were mainly narrow, and were spread throughout the list, with perhaps breweries, food processing and retailing and insurances standing out. National Insurance, however, gained another 4c to 310 c.
