Sponge In Body
(NX. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 18. A 12in-square surgical sponge accidentally left in the body of a 78-year-old woman after an operation caused her death, the Coroner at Parramatta was told. The coroner, Mr L. J. Nash, S.M, said the sponge caused a haemorrhage after an operation at the Canterbury District Memorial Hospital on July 21. The Coroner was inquiring into the death of Mrs Daisy Huggins, of Lakemba, Sydney, at the hospital on October 12.
