The Rev. W. E. Limbrick, vicar of Okains Bay, has been appointed to the executive committee of the National Council of Churches as alternate to the Archbishop of New Zealand (the Most Rev. N. A. Lesser). He succeeds the Rev. R. G. McCullough, of Papanui, who wilt leave Christchurch this week to take up his new position as chaplain to the University of Auckland. Captain H. L. Kendrick, assistant chief of staff for operations and plans for the United States Navy Antarctic support* force will leave Christchurch soon to take up a new appointment on the staff of the Commander of Naval Forces, Europe, which has its headquarters in Malta. Captain Kendrick has been with the Antarctic support force for the last two years. He will be succeeded by Commander F. Bernstein, who will assume the rank of captain in April. Commander Bernstein, who is from New York, will make his first visit to McMurdo Station on Saturday. Lieutenant-Colonel L. Millar, of the Christchurch Corps of the Salvation Army, and the Rev. D. M. Taylor, general secretary of the National Council of Churches, will represent the council at the annual meeting of the Maori section of the council at Ohope, in the Bay of Plenty, from February 15 to 18. The Rev. M. Mete, of Christchurch, will also attend the meeting as a representative of the Anglican Maori Mission.

Mr C. G H. Merritt, manager of the National Bank of New Zealand at Manurewa since 1964, has been appointed assistant manager bf the Christchurch branch. He will succeed Mr A. W. White, who has been appointed manager at Newmarket, Auckland, after three years in Christchurch.
