Every Post Won After Stumbling

(From Our Oum Reporter) TIMARU. Every Post dismayed his backers when he stumbled when leading on the home turn in the Juvenile Handicap at Washdyke yesterday. But he recovered cleverly for his apprentice rider, G. R. Heaton, and won handily for Mr J. D. Gregan.

Every Post, a mhember of W. P. Hogan’s team at Washdyke, was the third favourite after a fair fifth on the final day of the New Zealand Cup meeting.

Every Post, a black gelding by Llanstephan from Twilight Post, accelerated quickly to lead into the second furlong from Court Star and Circulation. Longslip was next, but appeared to be feeling the pace.

Court Star and Chota had every chance to make bids for the lead when Every Post stumbled when running out on the home turn, but they could not make much impression in the last furlong. Every Post was master of the situation once Heaton got him balanced and he won well by a leneth and a half.

Crepe de Chine came from four places back for second, half a length ahead of Circulation. Then there was a neck to Chota and three-quarters of a length to Allspice. Ninth was the best the favourite. Longslip. could manage. CAME EFFORT, Listening Post showed his powers as a front runner to win the Fairlie Stakes in the colours of Mrs V. Clutterbuck, wife of the Riccarton trainer, at Washdyke yesterday. F. H. Skelton rode the four-year-old Harken gelding hard early to get clear and Pitskelly gave him no rest in the middle stages, but he had :enough left to shake off all challenges in the straight. Overnight made a promising run at Listening Post going to the furlong, but Listening Post found a little bit extra and had a slowly widening winning margin of half a length at the end. Overnight was a length ahead of the fast finishing favourite, Displease, which was late clearing an awkward position on the rails. Displease just caught "itskellv.
