EMPEROR’S OPINION
Building Near Palace (N Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, Dec. 26. Emperor Hirohito of Japan today said he would not particularly mind a skyscraper being built in front of the Imperial Palace. When meeting the Governor nf Tokyo, Mr Ryokichi Minobe, the Emperor expressed his opinion on the question of constructing multi-storeyed buildings that could enable people to view the palace from elevated positions.
Mr Minobe spent about 40 minutes with the Emperor, making an annual report on political and other matters in Tokyo.
A plan to build a 30-storey building near the Imperial Palace has been opposed because of the view of the palace it would provide.
