Road Hazards
Sir, —Your words of advice about holiday road accidents are worth heeding. I fear, though, that the ones to whom they are directed are mostly unable to read. In case some of them can read, may I point out an extremely dangerous practice? There should be a severe penalty for driving under the influence of a female. I am all for a cuddle, but I fail to see how I could concentrate properly either on my driving or on my canoodling at the same time. It makes me mad to follow a car the driver of which is draped all round a girl, and the car is weaving along the road in time to his emotional upheavals. I feel that the girl is an accessory to the crime, and should be liable for prosecution as well as the driver. Any sane girl would insist that the driver get her to her destination safely before taking his mind off his driving.—Yours, etc., PINTTUS. December 21, 1967.
