Scout Flying School
The Scout Association will hold its second flying school for Venturer scouts at the Matamata Aerodrome from January 24 to January 31. Twenty-eight new students will attend the course as will 12 second-year students who will receive additional flying instruction and assist with camp routine. The school, which has been renamed the Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School, will be run by scout officials with the assistance of 18 experienced airline and commercial pilots who have volunteered their services as instructors.
Each first-year student will receive at least eight hours flying instruction and the majority of them will fly solo Within that period.
