TROTTING Royal Armour Expected To Do Well At Hororata
Royal Armour trotted so well at the Methven trials on Tuesday that he should make a bald bid to win the two-mile Malvern Handicap at the Hororata Trotting Club’s annual meeting today.
Royal Armour raced last at Waimate on December 9 when he trotted a fine race to finish second behind Doctor Scott. This field looks to be much stronger than that he was placed in at Waimate, but this should not trouble him greatly.
Annabelle Lee looks favourably placed on the limit to make amends for her failure at Rangiora last week. In that race she broke near the half-mile and refused to settle down, finishing near the tail of the field. She is much better than that effort suggested and she could easily make amends. Beverley Dawn trotted a fine race for second behind Shady Maid at Rangiora last week. She looks in great order and is expected to win at least one race during the holidays. Laplander trotted well enough at the Methven trials to be given more than an
outside chance. He will be driven by C. Middleton, who will be having his first drive at a totalisator meeting. Bertha Jo, Shady Maid, and Young Morris appeal most of the others. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Hororata Cup and the President’s Challenge Stakes. The on-course concession double will be run on the Darfield Handicap and the A. J. Harris Memorial Handicap. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be fast.
