Strictly For The Bird. By Hargreaves. Macmillan. A timely, new collection from Hargreaves will improve Christmas for many people. This offering comprises about 60 of the drawings Hargreaves has contributed to “Punch.” The little sparrow, whom Hargreaves has made a figure of mischief and fun, makes frequent appearances, but he does not dominate; the collection includes bigger fry such as toucans, ducks, owls, turkeys, a cuckoo caught in a highly compromising position, birds of varying dignities (as in the picture on the left), and there are even a few animals. The wit, skill, and draughtmanship of Hargreaves cope with them all.
