Gaol Term For Theft

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. A bank clerk who stole $4OOO from his bank and used it to gamble on racehorses and to meet some small financial commitments was sentenced to six months imprisonment when he appeared for sentence in the Magistrate’s Court today. Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., also placed Bruce Knock, aged 23, on probation for a year, on the condition he live and work where directed by the probation officer. Knock had previously admitted the offences, which occurred between July 3 and October 26, when Knock was a servant of the Auckland Savings Bank.
