Six Wickets To J. M. Mclntyre

St Albano, with one for 41, resumed its Innings needing 201 to overhaul Sydenham's total of 241. St Albans made it a struggle from start to finish, allowing the bowlers to dictate, a duplication of Sydenham’s innings on the first day. The only bright spark of the St Albans innings was a partnership of 52 by R. Mather and A. Fleet, Mather scoring 41, half of which came from boundaries Harrison, better known for his bowling, showed his determination by defying the bowlers for 151 minutes, and was last to be dismissed when he was bowled attempting a big hit. His innings of 39 was a chanceless and sensible one. Ruston nibbled at one and was caught behind, and Burtt was besten by Mclntyre, and was stumped when he was on nine by A. M. Pearce, who did a fine job throughout. With Guillen, Ruston and Burtt dismissed and 170 - still needed, it was a struggle to the end, with St Albans losing by 28 runs on the first innings.

Mclntyre, the chief destroyer, and Salt bowled between them

71 overs, of which 34 were maidens. At one stage Salt bowled seven maidens in succession. Mclntyre took six wickets for 70 runs from 43 Overs, 21 of which were maidens. An excellent bowling performance. Salt, although bowling accurately, did not acquire any wickets, but was very economical, only conceding 13 runs from 28 overs.
