Brazilian Boy Tortured
(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) BRASILIA, Nov. 30. A six-year-old boy is being treated in hospital after being tortured for 12 days in a witchcraft ritual in a slum area of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.
The Brasilia Secretary of Security, Colonel Jurandir Palma Cabral, said the boy was discovered by the police on Friday in a shack, where he had been tortured by his mother and stepfather. The torture, he said, was part of a ritual destined to restore the liver of a “client.” “According to the ritual,’’ Colonel Cabral said, “the boy was supposed to be tortured for a whole month.” He said that when the police broke into the shack, after receiving a complaint, they found the boy tied with electrical wire and covered with burns.
