A 39-year-old woman promoter, Teresai Hazel Myers, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by Mr Justice Richmond in the Supreme Court at Auckland cn 10 charges of false pretences and one of forgery arising from land deals at Whitiroa Beach, near Waihi. His Honour imposed a oneyear sentence on each of eight counts of false pretences involving cheques; 18 months on each of two charges of false pretences relating to land deals; and one year oh one count of forgery, the terms to be served concurrently. ‘T have taken into account that you have been in prison for a month and that there is a prospect of restitution being made but, in spite of all this, I have to send you to prison,” his Honour told Myers.
