Bompa Undergoes Tests At Massey
'“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON Bompa was brought to Palmerston North yesterday for an X-ray examination of his knee. The results of this and of veterinary examinations will be known later this week. Bompa won the Hawke’s Bay Guineas and was third to Mannix in the Wellington Guineas. The knee condition which hampered his Trentham preparation has failed to respond to treatment. If the cause is found and treatment is successful Bompa will travel to Australia for rich autumn sprint races in Victoria or New South Wales. TROTTING TRIALS AT WASHDYKE TODAY. BECAUSE of the large number of entries (16 races), the starting time of the Trials has been advanced to 10 a.m. The first race will be the trotters’ 2:20 class, followed by the qualifying trial heats. Entering Palmerston North yesterday the trailer in which Bompa was travelling collided with another vehicle at an intersection, causing considerable damage. The Pakistan II colt was thrown to the floor. He was nervous and shaken when unloaded at the Massey University veterinary clinic. Bompa will be taken to Riversdale Beach, near Masterton, for light saltwater exercise while his owner is awaiting the results of the, tests.
