N.Z. Brandy Prospects

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 29= If the head of one of Italy’s largest brandy-producing companies, Mr M. M. Morpurge, had his way, brandy distilled in New Zealand would be in every cocktail cabinet from Cape Reinga to Bluff. But Mr Morpurge, who owns Distillerie Stock, of Trieste, and has been visiting New Zealand distributors, is faced with two problems—a wine shortage and Government restrictions. “New Zealand wine is ideal for making brandy,” he said in Auckland today, “but there is not enough of it. “As soon as it is possible I would like to start distilling here—and prospects are good, but there are a lot of restrictions to be overcome first.”
