OVERSEAS EXCHANGES

SYDNEY The market continued to fall on the exchange yesterday. Mining stocks and B.H.P. were the most affected. In the mining section interest was mainly centred around Great Boulder, whose annual meeting was held at 11.45 a.m. The chairman said that the company would make a rights issue on the basis of 1:5 at 425 c premium to finance exploration work. Traces of nickel were announced in the drilling report. The shares sold down to as low as 700 and 800 which was down 340 on yesterday’s last sale. Western Mining lost 100 to 2900. Mounts Isa fell 36c to 500, whilst Gold Mines Kalgoorlie shed 45c to 146. In the investment section B.H.P. was marked down 50c to 1565 and E.Z.I. fell 15c to 334. Peko Wallsend lost 24c to 610.

MELBOURNE Great Boulder had the spotlight; selling early at 1140, the shares dropped sharply on the announcement of the high premium of 425 on the new 25c share issue. The market reached a day’s low of 700 and finished 390 lower at 780. Virtually the whole mining list declined with the few rises being only minor moves. Main losers were G.M.K., 40 to 145; Loloma. 85 to 350: and North Kalg., 75 to 240. Western Mining rose early to SO5O then closed 30 lower at 2920. Oils were easy, mostly losing around 10c except Woodside which gained 12 to 180. Industrials continued to ease led by B.H.P down 50 at 1570 and Peko 30 to 612. Fails exceeded rises by a wide margin.
