BOWLS TITLE
World Best To Compete (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand singles and pairs bowling champion, P. E. B. Jones (Otahuhu Railway) will compete alone on his club’s green on Saturday for a world title. The contest is the Vitalite world bowls singles competition organised by the magazine, “World Bowls.” Jones, who was selected by the New Zealand Bowling Association, will compete against players from each of the countries in the world where lawn bowls is played. After two trial ends of four bowls, Jones will deliver the; jack and four bowls. Then the distance of each from the jack will be measured. After eight ends, the distances of the 32 bowls will be added together and the score forwarded to “World Bowls”. The player with the lowest aggregate distance will hold the challenge trophy for a year.
