FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation. —A shallow depression lies over the south of the South Island, and a frontal zone is moving from the west over the North Island. Forecast:

Nelson.—Light to moderate winds, mainly north-easterly; cloudy; mild and humid with scattered showers.

Marlborough.—Moderate north or north-west winds, cloudy and mild; some showers at times, mainly in and near the high country.

Buller and Westland.—Moderate north-east winds predominating; mainly cloudy; patches of mist and drizzle likely; mild and humid. Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds, mainly north-easterly; partly cloudy; cooler near the coast, still warm inland. Outlook. —All districts: mainly fair.
