Travel Hazards

Sir, —Referring to today's leading article, “Travel Hazards that can be Avoided,” and British immigration, it might interest some travellers to know that any New Zealander with an English father, in possession of his father’s birth certificate, is entitled to a British passport. With this he can stay and work in Britain as long as he likes. It also has the “edge” on a New Zealand passport regarding other Commonwealth countries. such as non-requirement of visas and working privileges. Even if dad possesses no certificate or has been dead for decades, the excellent British live statistics records will furnish his children with a copy of his birth certificate at the appropriate search fee. It does not apply for grandchildren.—Yours, etc., , A. B. CEDARIAN. November 29, 1967.
