Referendum Demanded
fN.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 27. The Committee on Vietnam has called on the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) to hold an immediate referendum on the Vietnam issue. In a statement commenting on the Prime Minister’s weekend review of the Vietnam situation, a committee spokesman (Mr C. R. Wheeler) said: “If Mr Holyoake was using intelligent judgment he would respond to the will of the New Zealand people and withdraw our troops now. “Any doubt as to the rightness of such a course of action could be cleared by an immediate referendum on the Vietnam issue. This is the challenge we give to Mr Holyoake.”
