Rotarians’ Luncheon

Rotarians in Christchurch who arranged a mannequin parade as a special treat for their wives at their annual “Ladies’ Day Luncheon” yesterday were delighted when one of their own kind stole the show—a genial middleaged male model called Noel.

Described by the compere as “Mr Average” he won a round of applause for both his appearances—first in a conservative grey suit, and then in a navy reefer jacket and light grey pants. Clothes parade for the older women concentrated on “the special occasion for the larger figure." A cream Thai silk ensemble with a low round neck, modelled on the empire line was worn by a younger model, but would have looked well on any woman of any age.' Clothes paraded by both men and women were lent by Hays, Ltd.

The luncheon, which is an annual event for Christchurch Rotarians, was attended by 350 guests including the Mayor of Christchurch (Sir George Manning) and Lady Manning.
