Benefits To Be Paid (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. The Minister of Social Security (Mr McKay) announced today that unemployment benefits would be paid this year to school-leavers over the age of 16 if they were unable to find jobs because of the current employment situation. But, he said in a statement, school-leavers would be considered eligible only if they intended to enter the work force and not to resume their studies in the next academic year. “Provided this intention Is clear, and they register for employment with the Department of Labour,” said Mr McKay, “they will be considered eligible for unemployment benefit even though they may never have been in employment.”
