79,620 Are Aborigines
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) CANBERRA, November 28. The aboriginal population of Australia numbered 79,620 in the 1966 census, the Acting Federal Statistician, Mr J. P. O’Neill, reported yesterday. This was an increase of 4211 over the 1961 census figure. The figures cover people with 50 per cent or more of aboriginal blood. The total population of Australia in June, 1967, was 11,750,868.
