‘Freezing’ Of French Assets (N.Z.P.A.Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Nov. 28. A Congressman urged the United States Government yesterday to freeze al! France’s financial assets in America unless she repaid her First World War debt immediately. A New York Democrat, Mr Lester Wolff, in a speech to the House of Representatives, said the Johnson Administration should take this action because of what was called the French-led assault on United States gold reserves. The United States should Immediately demand full payment and interest—about SUS6OOOm —on France’» 50-year-old debt, he said.
