No Decision On Students
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Nov. 7.
Unemployment benefits for university students who cannot find work during the long summer vacation, and other methods of providing them with the funds necessary for them to continue their studies next year, were discussed by a special Cabinet committee today. The meeting, presided over by the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) and attended by the Minister of Social Security (Mr McKay), the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) and their departmental advisers will report to the Cabinet next Monday.
Mr Kinsella said in an interview tonight that the whole position of students unable to find work to finance their next year’s studies was discussed, but no decisions were made.
