Rural Hotel Facilities
The council’s concern at the standard of conveniences at rural hotels had been put to Messrs R. Lester and G. P. A. de Latour, council members of the Canterbury Licensing Committee, it was reported to the Paparua County Council on Monday evening.
Cr J. U. Barclay told the committee members that the Licensing Control Commission, the Licensing Committee and the Health Department all had some control over the maintenance of hotel facilities. The council had difficulty in deciding which body to approach. The council felt that the Licensing Committee had not been informed about the condition of toilets and other facilities.
Mr Lester said he thought all the work required of local licencees had been completed, but the points raised by the council would be considered by the committee at a meeting this month.
