BROKEN TRACK
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) 'LONDON, Nov. 7. A piece of broken track caused Britain’s disastrous rail smash on Sunday night in which 53 people died, the Transport Minister, Mrs Barbara Castle, said yesterday. A bad break had been found on the line not far from where the Hastings-to-London express hurtled off the rails and mangled into a nightmare of metal, flesh and bone, she told the House of Commons. Mrs Castle told the Commons a full inquiry would be held into the accident, which occurred as the express thundered through the outskirts of London near suburban Hither Green.
