Obituary
REV. D. LORDAN The Rev. Denis Lordan, who served on the staff of the Christchurch Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament and in parishes on the West Coast and Canterbury, died on Sunday. He was 73. Father Lordan was born in County Cork, Ireland, on March 16, 1894, and was educated at the Irish National School and St Patrick's College, Thurles. He was ordained to the priesthood at Maynooth College, Dublin. Arriving in New Zealand in June, 1921, Father Lordan was appointed to the staff of the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in November the same year. He worked on the cathedral staff until 1927, and then served as parish priest at Akaroa, Kumara, Sumner-Woolston, Hokitika, Waimate, St Albans and Riccarton. Because of failing health. Father Lordan retired from active ministry earlier this year.
