Drove Truck In Flames
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Nov. 6. To prevent fire from spreading, an 18-year-old youth drove a blazing truck away after it had burst into flames while he was unloading wood at a Blenheim timber mill this afternoon. The youth, lan Sincox, was tipping sawn wood on to a pile when, as he put it, “the engine spluttered and she burst into flames.” The blaze threatened to spread to the wood heap, so he drove the truck to a grassed area and leaped from the cab. “He thought fairly fast,” a Blenheim Fire Brigade officer commented later. “I would probably have jumped out.” The truck's engine was badly damaged.
