‘Soul Of An All Black’
(From T. P. McLEAN) LONDON. From a woman's viewpoint, the 1967 All Blacks are astonishingly ambivalent personalities. Mrs Mary Holland, a 31-year-old feature writer for the “Observer,” in the last week has spent three or four days talking with the All Blacks about themselves and their careers in search of a key to a story which will appear in a few weeks time on the theme, “The Soul Of An All Black.” Mrs Holland, whose husband is in the foreign office, has been delighted beyond all her expectations at the gentleness of the New Zealand giants, and by their modesty and the strong sense of duty they have as a team. What puzzles her and compels her into believing that the All Black is really a twin personality is the difference between the quiet civilian and the dynamic crunching exponent of Rugby on the field.
