The mining board was generally stronger with Western Mining, Metals Exploration and Gt Boulder standing out. Metals Exploration put on 45c while Boulder gained 30c. Norseman, Nth 8.H., V.A.M. and Ravensthorpe all had good gains. Planet Metals, Hill 50, Silver Valley were all up fractionally. Mount Morgan fell back and was joined by Hamersley and Lake View. B.H.P. firmed slightly as holders waited for the routine report to come in from the company’s wells. C.S.R. continued to be much firmer and sold 8c higher. Tooth and Tooheys were both slightly stronger, but R. W. Miller sold steady.

E.Z. Industries highlighted early with a jump to 440 in response to the company's decision to prospect for nickel and copper in Tasmania, but closed 60c higher at 405 c. Other industrials were mostly moderately higher. Most minings made solid gains, led by Western Mining up 70c to 2920 c, but New B.JL was off 30c at 850 c. Mount Isa finished 11c up at 450 c tn response to silver-lead discoveries announced in the annual report at the week-end. Oils were steady, A.O.G. up 13c to 228 c.
