MARKET OPENS ON WEAK NOTE
The share market opened on a weaker note on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. In the New Zealand list 11 issues fell, and five improved, while the overseas list had five falls against two rises. The Christchurch turnover was average, but trading elsewhere was light.
Overseas shares made the best gains of the day. Ampol rose another 13c to 94c, and Colonial Sugar gained 25c and 15c respectively for Australian and New Zealand registered shares. Boral lost 10c to 170 c. and Myer was 9c cheaper, at 380 c. Marlin Carpets recovered 5c to 185 c. All other rises by New Zealand shares were 1c each. Falls were also small. Tasman lost sc, Neill, Cropper, N.Z. Newspapers, and Reid Rubber were 2c down, and other falls were 1c each.
