Little Hope Of Sales

(Special Crspdt N.Z.PA.) LONDON, November 5. Two of the major meat companies handling New Zealand lamb hold little prospect of being able to compete with South America for West Germany’s 1967-68 sheepmeat quotas. The quantity is about 1500 tons of lamb, and 1250 tons of mutton or lamb. “The price of South American lamb has dropped to 16}d a pound—4d a pound lower than New Zealand—and the Argentine has already sold 500 tons of lamb for shipment to West Germany this month,” said one of the meat companies.
