Avon Sculler Wins Trophy
The Avon sculler. F. O’Gorman, won the Haberfield Trophy for this year by a margin of six minutes. 13 seconds. R. Currie (Timaru) was second and W Barrett (Union) third. The race, held on flat water against a slight head wind, attracted seven entries, all in the maiden class. The Haberfield Trophy race, held over a mile, is a* sealed handicap. Currie was one of a 20-strong contingent from Timaru who came to Christchurch to gain experience of flat water because the rowing conditions in Timaru Harbour are difficult. Seven members were in the novice class.
