STONE AGE SCULPTURES

(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) BELGRADE, Nov. 5 A Jugoslav archaeologist said yesterday that he had discovered what appeared to be the oldest larger-than-life stone sculptures. Dr Dragoslav Srejovlc said he found sculptures of four human heads about twice life size last month at Lepenski Vir, an 8000-year-old Stone Age settlement on the banks of the Danube River, 100 miles east of Belgrade. He said the heads were larger than any found from the period except for some clay sculptures of similar size found in Jericho.
