SUPPORT FOR U.S.
Praise From Tunku
(N.Z.PA.-Reuter —Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 5. The Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, yesterday declared full sympathy for the United States position in Vietnam and said that but for the cost of confrontation Malaysia would have been with America in the conflict.
“We realise how much we owe to America in defending the rights of men to be men and not to be slaves. That is what is happening in Vietnam,” the Tunku said. The Tunku, speaking in reply to a dinner toast from the United States VicePresident, Mr Hubert Humphrey, said Malaysia had the highest regard for what America was doing for the small nations who were struggling to live as free human beings.
“If things go badly in Vietnam, it is a question of time before things go badly for us here,” he said.
