FIREWORKS BAN SUGGESTED
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. A proposal to restrict the sale of fireworks to the week before Guy Fawke’s day has been put forward by C.A.R.P. Mrs M. Findlay, the president of C.A.R.P. said: “We think that fireworks are a waste of money, both overseas and internal funds, especially in the present economic conditions.
“They are also a very considerable nuisance. We
have talked to a number of adults, and find that most people would be quite happy if they were banned altogether. We haven’t gone quite as far as that, but we do think their sale ought to be restricted.” Dr A. 11. Paul, the District Medical Officer of Health, said the proposal was “sound.”
A Wellington fire officer said the fire brigade would he elated if the proposal were adopted.
