Continuing Strike
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 18. A deadlock in the week-old strike of 200 workers at Mason Brothers’ Auckland plant continued today after the men had held another meeting. Both the New Zealand Engineering and Related Trade Union and a company spokesman said there were no new developments. A spokesman for one of the unions affected said the men stopped work on Thursday last week after 32 workers had been given notice varying from four to eight hours. The workers want the notice extended and are asking for termination pay of one week’s wages for each year of service.
