Girl Rescued From Tower
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, October 16. A 13-year-old girl was rescued from a 125 ft floodlight tower at the Woodville railway yard last night by three railwaymen. The girl was discovered on top of the tower by a railway official. He notified the police, who failed in an attempt to talk the girl down. About an hour later three railwaymen went up the tower to bring her down. They are Messrs B. Watt and J. Henderson, and the assistant station master, Mr F. MacKinlay. Mr Watt has a permanent injury to his spine and would not have attempted the climb but for the girl’s predicament. After being brought down safely, the girl was taken home suffering from shock.
