Ownership Flats
Sir, —Your article on Friday about luxury ownership flats suggests something special and new in this field. After inspection it becomes clear that the flats can be classified as the usual “spec” builder’s type. The courts in New Zealand adhere to the principle, “Caveat emptor,” and statements by sales representatives are usually accepted as sales talk. However, when a well-known paper like yours publishes an article repeating these sales gimmicks it is misleading to the readers because such a write-up gives the statement some standing, a ring of truth. Your previous articles described existing buildings, already sold. These flats, however, are offered for sale to' the public. The buildersalesman here is vitally interested in concluding a sale. I would suggest that you consult an expert before writing an article of this nature.— Yours, etc., F. W. SOETERIK. October 10, 1967. [No reply has been received from the promoters, Bowler Investments, Ltd, who were invited to comment on this letter.]
