Down To Earth
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct 16.
The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) held one of the fastest press conferences on record when he answered reporters’ questions while descending three floors in the main lift in Parliament Buildings today. Mr Holyoake was dashing from a Cabinet meeting to the luncheon at Government House in honour of the Prime Minister of Japan (Mr Sato) and Mrs Sato.
The Prime Minister indicated to waiting reporters that he was in a hurry and invited them to share the lift with him from the top floor to the ground floor of the building.
Mr Holyoake had answered questions on Vietnam, the British withdrawal from South-East Asia and Government credit for the Wool Commission in the time it took for the lift to descend.
