Auckland Grammar was all out for 73, and Christchurch Boys’ High took a powerful grip on the two-day game by scoring 234 in the first innings. The home eleven batted on winning the toss, but was immediately in trouble. Although Chambers, ably supported by D. Phillipson, bowled splendidly. the batsmen too often
did not play down the line during their short stay of 10S minutes. After a fine start by the Christchurch openers, S. Squire (45) and H. Joseph (55), the Grammar spinners. G. Howarth and B.
