League Player Suspended

A suspension of six playing Saturdays was imposed on a senior Rugby League player last evening. He had been ordered off in a friendly game recently. He is R. J. McKenzie, who has already stood down four Saturdays for a previous offence this season. The latest ordering off took place in a match between Christchurch Marist and Wellington Marist at Hornby on October 7. The recommendation of the judicial committee was upheld by a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League. Mr J. H. Machirus asked if the judiciary committee had taken into account that the incident took place during a friendly match. Mr J. Anderson said that McKenzie had been ordered off only 10 minutes after the game had started. The suspension period will start next year. Referee Nominated.— Mr P. Yaxley will be Canterbury’s nomination as a referee for the World Championships next season.
