WATER-RACE POLLUTION
Council Warns Residents The use of a chemical, thimet, for the control of weeds in water-races did not cause danger to people or animals, said the chairman (Mr C. O. Redfern), reporting to the Malvern County Council on a meeting of the emergency committee to see what risks were involved in using the chemical on council races. The council decided to again warn residents that, as race water could be polluted by bacteria or chemicals, it should be boiled before domestic use. It was agreed that the spraying of the races should proceed.
