Referee Was Carried Off

The referee was carried off unconscious by six policemen after 500 spectators invaded the pitch at the end of the English League second division soccer match, in which Millwall was beaten at home by Aston Villa on Saturday. The referee, Mr N. Burtenshaw, was submerged by angry fans and by the timfe police fought their way through the crowd he was on the groundMr Burtenshaw recovered after five minutes attention tn a dressing room and later left the ground escorted by police.
