Tarim At Peak For Egmont

“The Press’* Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Tarim’s race in the Wainui Handicap at Trentham on Saturday topped him off nicely for tomorrow’s Johnson’s Travel Handicap at the Egmont Racing Club’s meeting at Hawera.

Tarim is top weight with 8-10 and is selected to take the first leg of the double. Few stay better than Tarim which has previously raced well ort the Hawera course. He finished well back at Trentham on Saturday but found the mile too short.

Rashid, a narrow but impressive winer at Masterton, has worked well since. He is appar-

ently holding his form and this field, though bigger, is no better than what he beat at Opaki just over a week ago.

Janeville ran so well at Trentham that she will remain in favour. She finished fast for sixth in the Wainui Handicap

after being hopelessly placed all the way. Luck has been against her lately. It is inevitable that In such a big field, luck in the running will play a prominent role. Others with chances include Tolka, Simonsen and the improving northern galloper, Patanga. Selections:

3.40 p.m.—Johnston’s Handicap: Chapel Belle, Yoshiko, Bourbon Lass. 4.15 p.m.—Visitors’ Handicap: Ana Kildare, Sasinaz, Renegue.
