HEREWINI UNLUCKY
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Bad luck has again fallen on M. A. Herewini on his first week away on the All Black tour. His 4j-year-old son Mackie has been taken to hospital. Mrs M. A. Herewini said last night that Mackie had an operation for osteomyelitis, after an abscess had formed on the knee. “He was a ball of fire the day Mack left,” said Mrs Herewini, “but the following day he was very hot and
refused to walk on his knee.” Mrs Herewini said that the Rugby Union had cabled Herewini and the chairman, Mr T. C. Morrison, was telephoning the team to say that Mackie was recovering. When Herewini last went to England with the All Blacks in 1963-64 his brother was killed in a motor-cycle accident just before he left and his sister died while he was on tour.
